Before you self-host a workflow platform

· Sydekyks

A practical checklist for the server, configuration, access, backups and connected providers needed to run Sydekyks.

Decide what your team will operate

Sydekyks is free to self-host, with all available features included. A successful installation also needs someone responsible for the server, access, backups and updates. Write down those responsibilities before connecting live business accounts.

Prepare the runtime and private configuration

The supported Docker Compose installation uses the Sydekyks application and worker together, PostgreSQL with pgvector, and Redis. The published 1.0.6 image supports Linux AMD64 and ARM64. Use the complete installation guide and its matching configuration.

The platform repository’s setup helper generates a database password, encryption key and JWT secret for a fresh installation. It preserves an existing environment file. Keep those private values outside public repositories, and retain them when upgrading.

Plan access and recovery

  • Choose the workspace address and configure HTTPS for server access.
  • Control who can access the installation and the accounts used by missions.
  • Back up the database and application volumes, with their matching configuration.
  • Check how your team will restore an installation before relying on it for live work.

Review connected services

Self-hosting the platform does not move your email provider, AI model or other apps onto your server. A mission can send data to those services according to its steps and connections. Review each destination and the fees or permissions its provider requires.

Start with a small test

Use sample data and a mission with a clear result. Check the run history, expected output and error behavior before publishing. See the first-workflow checklist for the next step.

If your team prefers help operating the installation, managed hosting and support are optional services with an agreed scope. The software remains free whichever route you choose.
